Letter – A study on Kazuhiro Ito - from Kris Littlefield on Vimeo.

Kazuhiro Ito, Jewellery artist (1948-1997)

Ito aimed to extend the idea of jewellery as an artistic expression and, as an educator, influenced many young artists.

His focus was on creating forms of jewellery inspired by spiritual values. He continually experimented with crossing the boundaries between different disciplines.

His ideas were ahead of their time, and highly original. He has left us clear guidelines for today. The questions Ito posed resonate strongly in this era of globalism, crossing borders and, in the art field, re-evaluating the close relationship between the physical body and jewellery.

For these reasons, ORIZZONTI think it’s important to preserve his work and archive the documents. So we planned our ’Letter –A study on Kazuhiro Ito-’ exhibition as the first step of a comprehensive archive initiative, to include a record of his teaching. We are planning to continue featuring his work and documents.

We’re very grateful to all collaborators for their help with this first project.
Thank you very much!
